Why New Builds Have Heat Pumps
The UK’s Future Homes Standard requires new homes built from 2025 to be ‘zero carbon ready’, which in practice means installing heat pumps instead of gas boilers. Many new builds already feature ASHPs ahead of this regulation.
Common New Build Heat Pump Issues
- Flow temperature set too high by builder — a qualified engineer can optimise settings
- Weather compensation not enabled — enable this through the controller
- System not balanced — some radiators cold while others hot
- Hot water cylinder controls incorrectly configured
Getting the Most from Your New Build Heat Pump
Ask the developer or their contractor for a full controls handover. Ensure you receive all warranty documentation and the commissioning certificate. Consider having an independent engineer review the system settings in the first year.
